The beginning - A bamboo dream
‘ Bamboo’bike was born in my garage
Just after graduating from engineering school, Tony set a new challenge for himself: to create a 100% bamboo bicycle frame. He then spent a year doing tests, working on bamboo, and developing an innovative solution called ©SOBEN-composite.
What better way to prove to you what #bamboopower can endure? Than by driving continuously, day after day, from country to country…
On September 18, 2016, Tony began the France – Cambodia journey.
The objective: to ride autonomously for more than 15,000 km with Bamboo’bike, a tent, a stove and tools – about 35 kg of luggage!
The strength of the ©SOBEN-composite has been demonstrated as after two years of roads and paths that have taken it through the Himalayas, the bike has not weakened.
In fact, it has been very robust, enduring snow, rain, wind, 45°C of dry heat, 98% of humidity, mud, ruts…
On August 3, 2018, the trip ended in Phnom Penh. But the adventure continues!

SOBEN - bringing the dream to life
With the ©SOBEN-composite material tested and validated and Astinée’s arrival to the project, we move from the “Au Bambou de mes rêves” adventure to the SOBEN company. We will open our manufacturing workshop in Phnom Penh.

‘ SOBEN = dreaming in Khmer
Cambodia is the ancestral land of bamboo culture and processing. This proximity allows us to be inspired by local knowledge and to collaborate with bamboo experts.
Cambodia having lost 75% of its forest area in the last three decades, the use of bamboo is an alternative solution to deforestation. We are part of the movement to continuously innovate and diversify the uses of bamboo.

Soben-composite is the wonderful combination of bamboo fibers and resin.
After three years of research and development, we invented the Soben-composite. It has a high flexibility allowing it to adapt to composite process standards without modifying manufacturing methods.
The ©SOBEN-composite can be applied to an infinite numbers of areas.
Research and development
Our R&D work is now aimed at setting up a production unit to continue improving the characteristics of the ©SOBEN-composite.
We also carry out advanced research on the use of 100% bio sourced resins and recycled plastics for an even more positive ecological and social impact.

This is the motto that guides Tony, a young engineer from Nantes with many projects in mind. Inventor, tenacious and above all, with unfailing optimism, he likes to tackle challenges and seemingly unrealistic goals. He is the creator of the ©SOBEN-composite, the tireless traveller of Au bambou de mes rêves and the founder of SOBEN.
Astinée Jacolin
Communication – Event – Marketing
Versatility is her key word!
With her entrepreneurial, project and event management background, she has the drive to plan it and the experience to successfully implement it!
Her role in the SOBEN project: to maximize our productivity so that we can determine our strategy and launch our first crowdfunding. She is passionate about all kinds of sports and she will be the crash-tester of SOBEN products!
